Report: Nebraska’s Sellout Streak Will Live On This Week

Last week’s contest against Illinois was supposed to be a fresh start for the Nebraska football program and head coach Scott Frost.

Unfortunately, the same old mistakes popped up yet again. The Huskers dropped their season opener against the Fighting Illini by a final score of 30-22.

Following the game, it looked like Nebraska’s incredible streak of selling out home games would come to an end. Fans were clearly fed up with the program and weren’t buying tickets.

However, just a few days before the game kicks off, the Huskers received some good news. According to a report from Eric Olson, two “generous donors” bought up the remaining tickets and will give them to underserved youths from across the state.

That ensures it will bee a sellout.

And the Nebraska sellout streak lives on. NU announces two “generous donors” bought up remaining tickets and will give them to underserved youth across state. It’ll be sellout 376 in a row. #Huskers

After the team’s loss over the weekend, ESPN’s Paul Finebaum had some harsh words for Scott Frost and company.

“This is a disaster. And there’s no way to sugarcoat it. That was the most important game, I think, of Scott Frost’s career out there for a lot of reasons,” Finebaum said, via Saturday Tradition. “When you play in Week 0, you have the whole country to yourself. You can make an impression, even beating Illinois. Winning a game at Champaign will not really help your career anywhere but in this particular case. But it would’ve gotten everyone off his back for a couple of weeks until the trip to Norman and it would’ve calmed the waters. Instead, he has just told Jim Harbaugh, ‘Get outta the way, man. I’m No. 1 on the coaches hot seat right now.”

The Huskers should be able to rebound this weekend with a home game against Fordham.
