Over the past few weeks, no athlete has dominated the headlines more than Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson.
In late March, the Browns made a blockbuster trade with the Houston Texans for the Pro Bowl quarterback. However, there are still significant questions about how many games – if any – Watson will be able to play in 2022.
The NFL is still investigating the allegations from 22 women who claimed sexual misconduct by the former first-round pick. Two grand juries have already declined to indict Watson on criminal charges.
On Tuesday night, though, a report emerged suggesting Watson will be forced to answer questions about at least one topic. According to a report from Brent Schrotenboer, Watson “will have to answer whether he had sex with 18 additional therapists who came to his defense about his massage habits last year.”
Here’s more from the report:
As part of the pretrial discovery process in those lawsuits, their attorneys have sought to have Watson answer written “requests for admission” about whether he had sex with the 18 therapists who publicly supported him after the lawsuits against him started in March 2021.
There are still 22 civil lawsuits against Watson, though it’s unclear when – or if – those will ever go to trial.
The Browns clearly aren’t worried about Watson’s longterm availability. Cleveland gave the star quarterback a $230 million guaranteed contract, the largest in NFL history – by far.
