Baker Mayfield will not be included in a potential trade package for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, per Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot.
That being said, the former No. 1 overall could still be on his way out of Cleveland sometime in the near future.
“Baker Mayfield won’t be headed back home to Texas as part of the trade offer for Deshaun Watson, but he could be dealt even if the trade doesn’t happen,” Cabot reports, per Cleveland.com

The Browns met with Watson on Tuesday afternoon to discuss a possible partnership moving forward. The Texans want draft compensation, not players, in exchange for their 26-year-old Pro Bowler. The Houston organization is also prepared to start second-year QB Davis Mills in 2022, making Mayfield obsolete in any potential trade negotiations.
“The visit with Watson seems like a dealbreaker, and Mayfield and the Browns could be headed for a divorce regardless if Watson lands here or not,” Cabot added.
Several teams will no doubt have their eye on Mayfield in this year’s trade market. The Seahawks and Colts are both in dire need of a starting quarterback options heading into the 2022 season, and any team that misses out on the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes will likely still be looking for an upgrade at the QB position.
