An arrest warrant was reportedly issued for Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney High School head football coach Carl Pelini on Monday, according to a report by 21 WFMJ-TV in Youngstown, Ohio.
Pelini is being charged with domestic violence. He is not currently in custody.
According to a police report, officers responded to a 911 call in Youngstown, Ohio about a domestic dispute. Police that arrived on the scene found Pelini’s wife, Julie, who said that her husband struck her during an argument.
Julie Pelini had a black eye and officers found blood in the kitchen in the house, per the report. She reportedly declined medical attention and refused to sign a written statement at the scene.
Carl Pelini had already fled the home and has not been apprehended, per reports.

According to Cardinal Mooney High School, Pelini has been placed on paid administrative leave pending the ongoing investigation. School president Tom Maj has named Mike Tucci has interim head coach for the time being.
Pelini, 56, had his last stint in college football back in 2019 when he served as the defensive coordinator for Youngstown State under his younger brother, Bo. Prior to that job, Carl spent time as the head coach of Bowling Green and Floria Atlantic, along with assistant coaching gigs with Nebraska and Ohio.
Once Bo Pelini left Youngstown State for LSU during the 2020 season, Carl took over the Cardinal Mooney job. He’s been with the high school program since last summer.
