An arrest warrant has reportedly been issued for former star NFL running back Clinton Portis.
The Alachua (Fl.) Chronicle reported this week that a court order has been issued for Portis, 39, over alleged unpaid child support bills.
From the report:
A court has ordered the arrest of former NFL running back Clinton Portis, whose current address is in Gainesville, over unpaid child support. According to court documents, he has failed to make a single payment of court-ordered child support of $1,937.00 monthly to the mother of a child born in March of 2015. The mother’s address is in Michigan.
Portis made more than $40 million as an NFL player, though he filed for bankruptcy in 2015. He reportedly lost a lot of his money due to poor financial advisement. As of 2017, he reportedly lived in a two-bedroom apartment in Northern Virginia.
The former NFL running back was one of the best players at his position during his prime. Portis made the Pro Bowl in 2003 and ’08. He rushed for 9,923 yards and 75 touchdowns over the course of his career.
Portis is reportedly found to have owed 147,962.49, plus interest, in unpaid child support. The court reportedly determined that Portis has “the means and ability to pay, has guaranteed income, and has substantial retirement assets.”
The ex-NFL running back retired from the league in August of 2012.
