We can now cross off at least one NFC South team that’s not interested in trading for Baker Mayfield.
Per Will Kunkel of Fox Charlotte, the Carolina Panthers are not interested in Mayfield.
Despite twitter reports:
I’m told the Panthers are still NOT interested in Baker Mayfield.— Will Kunkel (@WillKunkelFOX) March 21, 2022
The Panthers will look elsewhere for their next quarterback as Sam Darnold may be on his way out.
Mayfield will also not be going to the Indianapolis Colts. They traded for Matt Ryan on Monday afternoon and he’ll be the starter with them moving forward.
Despite those two teams being out, there could be some other teams that do show interest. One of them is the Seattle Seahawks after they traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos.
They got Drew Lock in return, but he hasn’t panned out as a good starter yet. Another team could be the Falcons after trading Ryan, despite signing Marcus Mariota shortly after.
Mayfield will be fully healthy when the 2022 season starts. He underwent successful surgery on his left shoulder after he was severely banged up during the 2021 season.
