Ravens Announce Injury Update For QB Trace McSorley

Trace McSorley throws a pass against the Jaguars.

After spending the last two seasons as the Baltimore Ravens‘ third-string quarterback, Trace McSorley appears on-track to earn the backup job this year. Unfortunately, an injury could get in the way of that.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh revealed that McSorley recently suffered a back injury. He is expected to miss a few weeks of action as he recovers.

The first two years have been tough for the former Penn State superstar. As a rookie in 2019, he was limited to just one snap – a one-yard- run as Lamar Jackson won MVP honors.

This past year McSorley seemed on track to get more playing time. He appeared in two games and made his first NFL passes, going 3 of 10 for 90 yards and a touchdown in relief of Robert Griffin III.

But a few weeks later, he suffered a knee sprain against the Cleveland Browns, ending his season.

The Baltimore Ravens are coming off their third straight postseason appearance with Lamar Jackson at the helm. They’ve found so much success thanks in large part to a dominating rushing attack – which McSorley is trying to become a part of.

As starting quarterback at Penn State, McSorley had no trouble moving the ball with his legs as well as his arms. He had over 1,600 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns in his three years as the starter.

Will Trace McSorley have a bigger role with the Baltimore Ravens this coming season?
