The Las Vegas Raiders tried to climb back into relevancy when they traded for Davante Adams, pairing him with one of his best friends, Derek Carr.
Adams grew disgruntled with the Green Bay Packers and wanted to move closer back home to the West Coast, so the Raiders made perfect sense as a landing spot. While it seemed like Adams was enjoying being closer to home and playing for the Silver and Black, he eventually grew restless again and was dealt to the New York Jets. Adams reunited with Aaron Rodgers, though the two flamed out and are now on the Los Angeles Rams and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively.
So far, Adams seems happier in Los Angeles than he did in Las Vegas as he’s spoken glowingly about his new coaching staff and teammates. The commentary from Adams seems pointed, and he added more fuel to the fire when he said in an appearance on Sedano and Kap, he and Jimmy Garoppolo were miserable with the Raiders, as transcribed by Michael David Smith of ProFootballTalk:
“I love Jimmy. It was never a personal thing,” Adams said. “It’s been amazing, we’ve gotten to catch up and get on the same page. Obviously that was just a dark moment in all of our lives. I think all of us were pretty miserable over there. We kind of caught up and laughed about it, and we’ve been making plays since we’ve been here.”
There was a lot of talk about Adams’ disdain for Garoppolo as the two missed on several connections on the field together, but now find themselves as teammates again with the Rams. However, it seems the wideout believes his displeasure actually stemmed from playing with the organization and that speaks volumes about the state of affairs at the time.
Even with Adams on the field, Las Vegas struggled to move the football and score points, which led to some on-field outbursts from the veteran. It was clear he was unhappy with how things were operated, but now finds himself in a better situation.
It’s disappointing to hear someone like Adams make negative comments about the Raiders, but the organization appears to be heading in the right direction now, and that’s ultimately what matters.
Raiders call Davante Adams’ departure business as usual
Davante Adams’ departure from the Raiders was disappointing, though there were no hard feelings as the organization called the situation business as usual.
