The Las Vegas Raiders understand that they must find the right head coach to lead this team back into contention, and after firing Pete Carroll after just one season, the front office is already getting to work on their search.
There are a number of options for the Raiders between coaches who were recently let go, coordinators on the rise who have never been head coaches, and perhaps even some coaches from the college ranks.
The Raiders already have four interviews for their head coach position lined up this week, with the candidates including Denver Broncos QB coach Davis Webb, Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph and Seattle Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, via Ian Rapaport of NFL Network:
The #Raiders will interview:
— #Broncos QBs coach Davis Webb tonight.
— #Chiefs OC Matt Nagy on Thursday.
— #Broncos DC Vance Joseph on Thursday.
— #Seahawks OC Klint Kubiak on Friday. Kubiak has three other requests, as well and Friday and Saturday appear to be the days.— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 7, 2026
Webb would be the most surprising of those candidates, as he is just 30 years old, having only entered coaching in 2023 after retiring as a player. But he has clearly turned some heads with the work he has done with Bo Nix in Denver.
Both Nagy and Joseph have prior head coaching experience, with Nagy spending four seasons with the Chicago Bears, while Joseph coached the Broncos for two years. Joseph’s return to the Broncos as a coordinator has seen him transform that unit into one of the best in the NFL, while Nagy has won two Super Bowls while leading the Chiefs’ offense.
Kubiak, like Webb, would also be a first-time head coach and was in charge of a Seahawks offense that ranked in the top 10 in points and yardage on its way to the top seed in the NFC.
Of course, the Raiders could still interview many more before deciding on the right person. But whoever they choose must be the right one, as this franchise requires some stability at the head coach position.
Raiders secure top pick in 2026 NFL Draft
Whoever does take over the Raiders as head coach will be starting from the bottom, as the team finished 3-14 this season, tied for the worst record in the NFL, and officially secured the first overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
