What should we expect from rookie linebacker?
The Las Vegas Raiders drafted linebacker Tommy Eichenberg from Ohio State in the fifth round of the NFL draft.
The team is excited about Eichenberg, who could play some as a rookie. Let’s take a look at what to expect from him during his rookie season:
Size:
6-2, 233 pounds.
College highlights:
Eichenberg was a productive player and leader for the Buckeyes. He was the 2023 Big Ten Linebacker of the Year and he, of course, was first-team all conference as well. He has 82 tackles, two-and-a-half tackles for loss, a sack and a forced fumble last season. He was a second-team All-American pick in 2022 and was the Defensive MVP of the Rose Bowl.
What he offers Raiders in 2024:
Eichenberg is a Antonio Pierce-type player. He he is smart and hard-nosed. He has limitations, but he is a natural linebacker.
Best-case 2024 scenario:
Eichenberg pushes Divine Deablo for playing time and becomes a key member of the linebacker unit as a rookie. At the least, he will likely play in some situations and be a key member of the special teams.
