Peters, in his first season with the Raiders, was benched in the second quarter Sunday in a 31-17 defeat to the Kansas City Chiefs in favor of Jack Jones. It was Jones’ second game with the Raiders after being claimed off waivers from the New England Patriots.
After his benching, Peters was standing by himself on the sideline nd he did have spirited chat with Pierce on the sideline.
According to The Athletic, there was effort issues with Peters’ play. Peters, who grew up a Raiders’ fan in Oakland, has just one interception this season, but it was returned for a touchdown, in Week 8 at Detroit.
He has started all 12 games. If he is waived, the Raiders would save some bonus money, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Marcus Peters is owed the remaining balance on his $1.1m 2023 salary. He also gets a $60,000 per game bonus for each game he’s active. So @Raiders would save $300,000 if they decide to move on.
