Tracking stats for quarterbacks during training camp practices is pretty meaningless. There just aren’t many takeaways you can make with those stats. However, it is notable if a quarterback isn’t throwing a bunch of interceptions.
In a recent article by Tashan Reed of The Athletic, he mentioned that he hasn’t seen Carr intercepted yet. Here is what he had to say about the team’s franchise quarterback so far during camp:
“Derek Carr has looked really sharp throughout training camp. I haven’t observed him throw any interceptions and it’s clear that his chemistry with receiver Davante Adams hasn’t gone anywhere.
Carr has already proven himself to be one of the better quarterbacks in the league, but it’s still impressive to see how quickly he’s adjusted to learning yet another new play caller and offensive scheme.”
The bigger takeaway here is that Carr is quickly picking up the new system. And that’s not really a surprise either considering Carr is an established veteran and the system suits him well.
Expect the Raiders to use a lot of quick passing and for Carr to lower his interception total significantly from last year.
