There isn’t much left
The Las Vegas Raiders have had a busy offseason and they have retained some free agents and have seen several leave. Here is a look at the team’s unsigned unrestricted free agents:
Ameer Abdullah, running back:
Abdullah spent the past three seasons playing on one-year contracts with the Raiders. He was a valuable backup who was versatile and helped on special teams. The Raiders could always bring Abdullah back but they seem happy with their new-look running back room.
Luke Masterson, linebacker:
Masterson started 10 games (seven as a rookie) in his three seasons with the Raiders after making the team as an undrafted free agent. Yet, despite major change at the linebacker position and with a wide-open competition to make the 53-man roster, the Raiders haven’t decided to bring back Masterson to this point.
Andrus Peat, tackle.
Peat spent one season with the Raiders and didn’t make much of an impact. The new regime is committed to developing third-round draft picks Caleb Rogers and Charles Grant. The likely way Peat could come abck is if there’s injuries.
Desmond Ridder, quarterback.
Ridder was signed late last season out of necessity. There is little chance he will return.
DJ Turner, wide receiver.
Turner has been part of the Raiders’ program the past three season, but with so many new young players at the position, he return may be unlikely.
Cody Whitehair, guard.
He was signed to a one-year deal last season because he had ties to the Raiders’ coaching staff. He didn’t do much as a Raider and is likely not to return.
Conclusion:
Yes, the Raiders saw a lot of free agents leave this offseason. But, at this point, there isn’t much value remaining on their list of in-house free agents.
