Raiders News: Sam Webb Re-Signs On One-Year Deal

March 25, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Sam Webb, Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders have a lot of work to do this offseason to give the roster any chance of competing in the AFC West and the rest of the NFL.

The division has only gotten tougher this offseason as the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos and Los Angeles Chargers all made moves to better their respective teams. Meanwhile, Las Vegas cleaned house and made a few splashy hires in John Spytek and Pete Carroll to lead the franchise moving forward.

Offensively, the Raiders desperately need more playmakers on the perimeter to complement superstar tight end Brock Bowers. Conversely, Las Vegas could also use more help on the defensive end, particularly in the secondary.

The Raiders did a good job of signing veteran safety Jeremy Chinn to a two-year deal, and they followed up that by re-signing cornerback Sam Webb to a one-year deal via Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2:

Webb appeared in 11 games for Las Vegas during the 2024 season, though all but 11 of his snaps were on special teams. While Webb didn’t have many opportunities to contribute defensively, he’ll still serve as solid depth in the cornerback room after Nate Hobbs signed with the Green Bay Packers in free agency.

At 6’2″, Webb’s got good size for the position and could see more opportunities guarding the perimeter during the 2025 season. However, the more likely scenario is that he sticks on special teams and Las Vegas will add more secondary talent through the 2025 NFL Draft.

Webb originally signed with the Raiders as an undrafted free agent in 2022, playing in 17 games and starting three of them. He then signed with the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in 2023 before ending up back in Las Vegas. He eventually signed a future/reserve contract with the Raiders in 2024 before being signed to the active roster.

Re-signing Webb gives Las Vegas some continuity on the roster, though the team still has more needs to address. Hopefully, they’ll be able to hit on most of their draft picks and find players they can build around.

Raiders still eyeing quarterbacks in 2025 NFL Draft

The Las Vegas Raiders may have Geno Smith on the roster following their trade with the Seattle Seahawks, but they are reportedly still eyeing quarterbacks in the upcoming 2025 NFL Draft. The Raiders are armed with the No. 6 pick and could move up or down for a player they like if the opportunity arises.
