Raiders News: Pete Carroll Expects To Win ‘A Bunch Of Games’ This Season

August 7, 2025 by Raiders Nation

Pete Carroll, Raiders

Training camp is officially underway, which means every team around the league has high hopes of what they can accomplish this season. That is certainly the case for the Las Vegas Raiders, who are entering their first season under new head coach Pete Carroll.

Carroll is a notoriously high-energy, positive person, and he instills that throughout whatever franchise he is in, which is exactly what the Raiders are looking for. After a 4-13 season, the expectations for most when it comes to the Raiders aren’t high. But Carroll isn’t subscribing to that at all.

The Raiders coach spoke to reporters on Tuesday just before camp was set to get going, and he made it clear that he expects the Raiders to win a lot of games this season, via NFL.com:

“We are going to win a bunch of games,” Carroll said. “I can’t even imagine anything else. I’ve been winning 10 games a year for 20 years or something. I mean, what are my expectations? We are going to win a bunch, and I don’t care who hears that.

“It ain’t about what anybody hears. It’s about what we do, and so that’s why expectations are really high. The standards need to be so that the expectations can be met. We’ll see what happens.”

As Carroll noted, he aims to raise the standards and expectations within the Raiders and ultimately meet them. The Raiders have made the playoffs just twice since 2002, losing in the Wild Card round both times, and Carroll plans to change that outlook within the organization.

The team has made a lot of moves this offseason with an eye on doing just that, trading for QB Geno Smith and drafting Ashton Jeanty to give the run game a boost. But none of that matters if the energy and mentality within the building don’t change, and Carroll is ensuring it will.

It won’t be an easy road, but Carroll plans on leading the Raiders through it all and back amongst the NFL’s elite immediately.

Pete Carroll plans on Raiders using committee backfield approach

Pete Carroll has always been a coach dedicated to running the ball, and with the Raiders drafting Ashton Jeanty sixth overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, the expectation is that he will be the primary running back for the team immediately. But despite spending the high draft capital, Carroll still loves the idea of a committee approach in the backfield that includes free agent signing Raheem Mostert and returning backs Sincere McCormick and Zamir White.
