Raiders News: Brett Favre Expecting Drop Off In Production From Davante Adams Without Aaron Rodgers

July 12, 2022 by Raiders Nation

Davante Adams, Raiders

Davante Adams going to the Las Vegas Raiders can shift the complexion of the AFC West as he gives them a legitimate offensive superstar.

Adams paired with Darren Waller, Hunter Renfrow, and Josh Jacobs should allow the Raiders to score almost at will. Along with new head coach Josh McDaniels, Las Vegas has every reason to feel confident about their Super Bowl chances.

However, there is some skepticism that Adams will remain a superstar receiver with Derek Carr under center. NFL legend Brett Favre doubts Adams can replicate his success without Aaron Rodgers via TMZ Sports:

“No disrespect to Davante at all — zero disrespect. I do think that Davante will make Derek Carr better and, in time, they will be a dynamic duo. Now will it be the duo that Aaron and Davante had? Time will tell,” Favre told TMZ Sports on Saturday. “I think Derek Carr is a very good quarterback, but he’s not in Aaron’s league yet. He may never be, and that’s no disrespect either, but I do think that Davante owes a great deal of gratitude to Aaron and the Packers drafting him.

“That’s not to say he’s not a great player because he is a tremendous player and we’ll see that with Las Vegas. But it’s just hard to shift gears, especially from a player as prolific as Aaron Rodgers. I’d be shocked if he had the same year he’s had this year. That’s not to say he can’t do it, but I would be shocked.”

Favre has every reason to be doubtful, considering the obvious drop off in talent from Rodgers to Carr, but the latter has held up well the past few seasons despite lacking weapons. Only time will tell how good the Carr-Adams pairing is, but the Silver and Black should still feel good about the direction of their team.
