More needs than expected

The Las Vegas Raiders are looking toward the future, especially after the Davante Adams trade, and they were have some needs heading into the 2025 offseason.

Of course, we won’t have a clear vision for what the Raiders’ roster will need until the after the season, here is a look at each position as of now..

Quarterback:

Let’s get it out of the way. This is the Raiders’ highest profile need. They need to draft the quarterback of the future ASAP.

Running back:

This might be any area where the Raiders want to address. Zamir White hasn’t established himself as a true replacement for Josh Jacobs and Alexander Mattison, who has been a nice role player, is a free agent. So, the Raiders may need to seriously look at this position.

Wide receiver:

Jakobi Meyers is a free agent in 2026 and he is probably best suited as a No. 2 receiver. Tre Tucker has skills, but he has to be consistent It’s safe to say the Raiders could use a starting-level player at this position.

Tight end:

The Raiders struck gold with Brock Bowers. He is a star already. There is plenty of hope for Michael Mayer, who is currently away from the team for personal reasons, in the future and Harrison Bryant is a solid No. 3 option, but he’s a free agent. This is probably not a high-priority position next year.

Offensive line:

The Raiders are work in progress on the line, but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they make, at least, one addition to the starting lineup somewhere.

Defensive line:

There could be some tinkering on the defensive front. They could opt to try to get deeper at defensive tackle and will need help at defensive end, especially if Malcolm Koonce doesn’t come back in free agency.

Linebacker:

Starters Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo are both free agents. They could be re-signed in the coming months. Even if their brought in, the tema could look for some linebacker depth.

Secondary:

There will be need but how much is the question. Cornerback Nate Hobbs and both Week 1 starting safeties Marcus Epps (he’s out for the season with a knee injury) and Tre’von Moehrig are free agents. So, depending on the Raiders approach, there could be some major needs or some tinkering in the secondary.

Conclusion:

Again, the Raiders’ 2025 needs is TBA, but it’s obvious there will be several needs beyond the search for a new quarterback.
