Raiders fans most disappointed in Tyree Wilson

2023 1st-round pick hasn’t done much so far

This is going to be a big season for Tyree Wilson.

The Las Vegas Raiders’ 2023 first-round pick (No. 7) overall hasn’t lived up to expectations in first two NFL seasons. If the defensive end doesn’t take a big step forward this season, the Raiders will very likely not exercise his fifth-year option, making him a free agent after the 2026 season.

Wilson has been a disappointment for sure and fans have noticed. We recently asked our community members what current Rider has been the biggest disappointment in their eyes.

Here were the options:

  • Tyree Wilson:

The third-year player hasn’t done much since being the No. 7 overall draft pick in 2023. He’s flashed at times, but hasn’t made much of an impact.

  • Zamir White:

He started last season as the No. 1 tailback, but he had a poor year and now is no sure thing to make the 53-man roster.

  • Michael Mayer:

The third-year tight end was expected to be an instant contributor but he has just 48 career catches.

  • Tre Tucker:

The 2023 third-year wide receiver has had some decent moments, but he did not produce well as a starter for much as last season.

  • Dylan Parham:

The Raiders drafted Parham in 2022 to be an anchor of the offensive line and he really hasn’t turn out that way and he’s not a certain starter for the upcoming season.

  • Chris Smith:

The safety hasn’t established himself as anything other than special teamer and he could easily not make the roster in September.

In a poll with more than 850 votes cast, Wilson was the runaway winner in a poll no one would want to lead. He received 67 percent of the vote, while White received 22 percent. The other 11 percent of the votes were split between the four other options.

For me it’s a tie with Tyree Wilson and Zamir White. Both are not quality players and should be on the practice squad. Better yet cut them both or see if another team wants two mediocre backups.

The common theme here is all were drafted by McD/Zig and haven’t had proper leadership and continuity their entire NFL career so far. I’m guessing I’ll get some flack, but would like to see how they’ve grown under Pete’s tutelage a year or 2 from now. I realize that won’t happen as there’s just not enough spots on the team, but am fairly sure they’d all be far better players from it.

an easier question — and much shorter list — is who has not disappointed? When you are in position to get the number 1 draft pick, nearly everyone sux.
