There is excitement about 3-time Pro Bowl defender who has history with Pete Carroll

Pete Carroll believes in Jamal Adams and many in the fan base of the Las Vegas Raiders do as well.

The Raiders signed the former three-time Pro Bowl safety (he has also been working at linebacker since joining the Silver and Black) last week. We asked our community members if they think Adams can help the Raiders’ defense or if they think he is over the hill.

The results of our poll show there is believe in Adams as a Raider. Our poll showed about 65 percent of the voters think Adams will make a difference, while about 35 think his better days are past him.

Adams is entering his ninth NFL season. He played for the Seattle Seahawks and Carroll for four seasons. Adams has had difficulty staying healthy. He has played a full season just twice and has played a total of 15 games the past three seasons. He was released by both the Tennessee Titans and the Detroit Lions last season.

Still, Raiders fans think Adams, who turns 30 in October, can still help the team. Time will tell.

Lot of hungry players looking for a spot on the 53. Adams seems to have a path to some kind of box safety role mapped out according to Sanjit. Bout to check out the clip if I can. If nothing else, he’s putting a little heat on the position along with his mentoring. I like the late additions. It suggests evaluations are continuous and constant.

No downside to this signing. He’s gonna push hard for a roster spot, and show the young guys what it takes. If he makes it, great, if not he taught the young guys something.

Jamal plays with an emotionally hot white intensity
He plays with fire passion and courage
He’s not really a good coverage back, he has trouble reading the trajectory of the ball so he’s usually standing up a step back off the line of scrimmage reading the play and trying to disrupt it before it gets going
His gambles change the series of play calls when he hits on his blitz and breaks down blocking assignments so he’s exciting to watch
But his tackling is so violent and aggressive that he hurts himself a lot, so I think Pete might want him as a change of pace defender
I don’t know, – but if he’s healthy look out…
it’s worth a shot
