Major League Baseball has new bases for this season and they look a heck of a lot better than last year’s bases.
A closer look has revealed that the new bases look to almost be twice as big.

Last season, baseball experimented with these bases in triple-A and they seemed to work. The new base is 18 square inches compared to 15 square inches from last year.
The MLB has several reasons for bringing these bases in, but the main one is to increase offense. The game badly needs more offense as runs are hard to come by in a good amount of games.
Baseball also wants to decrease the number of collisions at the bases since there have been numerous severe injuries over the years with the smaller ones.
These new bases could lead to more stolen bases after that was the case in triple-A last season.
