Pete Carroll Spoke Out On Minority Issues: NFL World Reacts

April 4, 2022 by The Spun

The National Football League continues to face deserved criticism when it comes to their lack of minority head coaches and front office executives.

The league is implementing practices and rules to improve, though there’s still a ways to go.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll was reportedly among those who spoke “passionately” about the league’s issues during the recent owners meetings in Florida.

“One source said that Carroll’s comments were sufficiently strong to make people in the room uncomfortable to the point of angry. Another source wasn’t sure if the remarks actually did or should have angered those in the room,” Pro Football Talk reported.

NFL fans have taken to social media to weigh in.

“Yet, he is too scared to sign Colin Kaepernick,” one fan pointed out.

“He believes they deserve a chance! Just somewhere else!” another fan pointed out.

“He should retire and open up a spot,” one fan claimed.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians retired in shocking fashion earlier this offseason, clearing the way for Todd Bowles to take over a Super Bowl-contending team.

That’s the kind of move that can truly pave the way for more minority hires in the NFL, especially hires that have a good chance to stick around long-term.
