In April, Julian Edelman announced his retirement from the NFL. Though it’s been a few months since that announcement, New England Patriots wide receiver Jakobi Meyers hasn’t heard much from Edelman.
During Tuesday’s joint practice between the Eagles and Patriots, Meyers was asked if he’s heard from Edelman. His answer was quite telling, as he revealed when people usually hear from the three-time Super Bowl champion.
“Jules is a real quiet guy,” Meyers said. “When he’s talking to you, you might have messed up. That said, I think we’re on good terms.”
That’s an encouraging sign for Meyers, who is entering his third season with the Patriots. If he’s not receiving any constructive criticism from Edelman, then he’s probably doing his job right.

Meyers, who went undrafted in 2019, had 26 catches for 359 yards in his first season in New England. He showed a ton of growth in 2020, hauling in 59 passes for 729 yards.
As for Edelman, he appears to be enjoying life away from the football field.
Earlier this year, Edelman announced that he’s joining the cast of Inside the NFL. He also mentioned that his production company, Coast Productions, is going to partner with ViacomCBS to produce movies, shows and documentaries.
Whenever Edelman decides to visit the Patriots this year, he’ll be welcomed with open arms.
