The New England Patriots are reportedly dealing with another injury to the tight end position.
According to ESPN NFL insider Mike Reiss, the Patriots had a tight end limp off the practice field on Sunday morning.
Jonnu Smith, a big free agent signing for the Patriots this offseason, reportedly limped off the practice field today.
Reiss had more details.
“Jonnu Smith got tangled up with a defensive back in a low-speed 1-on-1 drill, landed a bit awkwardly, and limped off early in this morning’s practice. The athletic training and medical staff seemed to be looking at his left ankle/foot. He walked off barefoot. Didn’t return,” he reported on Sunday morning.

Smith, 25, spent the first four seasons of his career with the Titans. He signed with the Patriots in free agency earlier this year.
The former FIU tight end signed a four-year, $50 million contract with the Patriots. He was one of two big free agent tight end signings in New England, as the Patriots also signed Hunter Henry.
New England is scheduled to open the 2021 season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Miami Dolphins.
