The New England Patriots have a lot of competition at running back for spots on the 53-man roster. But a single spin move from one Patriots player may have given him a leg up in getting one.
During last night’s 35-0 preseason win over the Philadelphia Eagles, Patriots running back J.J. Taylor went viral with his move. After taking the handoff and finding a hole on the right side, Taylor found himself face-to-face with Eagles defender Michael Jacquet.
Jacquet lunged forward to try and get a hand on Taylor, but Taylor spun around, causing Jacquet to completely whiff. That spin move was one of the biggest highlights in a big day for him.
Taylor would finish the game with a team-high 93 rushing yards and 7.8 yards per carry. He also had a touchdown.
Fans on Twitter, including his alma mater the University of Arizona, were very impressed by how vicious his spin move was:
Hit ‘em with that circle button again, J.J. ⭕️

As a rookie in 2020, J.J. Taylor had 23 carries for 110 yards in six games for the New England Patriots. But keeping his roster spot is not going to be easy with some of the additions the team made in the offseason.
The Patriots drafted Oklahoma star Rhamondre Stevenson in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. And Stevenson has made a strong case for a big role in the offense this year.
Fortunately, Taylor’s big preseason game could bode well for him making the final roster.
Will J.J. Taylor avoid being cut in the Patriots’ final cuts?
