With kickoff less than 24 hours away, the New England Patriots just made an interesting move to their roster.
Mike Reiss of ESPN is reporting that New England waived defensive tackle Isaiah Mack. He was claimed on waivers from the Tennessee Titans earlier this season due to the team’s injuries at the position.
New England needed to make room for linebacker Shilique Calhoun, who came off injured reserve this Saturday. As a result, the Patriots had to release Mack.
Mack, an undrafted player out of Chattanooga, was the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Year back in 2018. He hasn’t found his footing in the NFL just yet, but he should get another opportunity elsewhere since he’s only 24 years old.
The Patriots have waived DT Isaiah Mack today. Mack had been claimed on waivers from the Titans earlier this season when the team had a run of defensive tackle injuries. The Patriots needed the spot to activate LB Shilique Calhoun off IR today.

This decision to waive Mack confirms that Julian Edelman will not be activated off injured reserve for this weekend.
Edelman will miss his eighth straight game due to a knee injury that he had a minor procedure on. He was placed on injured reserve back in Oct. 31 with the thought that he’d return later in the year.
Since the Patriots are still without Edelman for this Sunday, the passing game will rely on Damiere Byrd, N’Keal Harry and Jakobi Meyers.
Kickoff for the Dolphins-Patriots game is at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
