Parker, the No. 14 overall pick in the 2015 draft, spent the past seven seasons as a wideout in Miami. He logged a 1,200-yard, nine-touchdown season in 2019, but injury issues hampered him over the last couple seasons. In fact, his career-best 2019 season is the only year of his career not limited by injury issues. Through 10 games in 2021, the 28 year old notched 515 yards and two touchdowns.
Earlier this offseason, the Dolphins acquired superstar wide receiver Tyreek Hill. Along with second-year stud Jaylen Waddle and free-agent acquisition Cedrick Wilson, there wasn’t much room on the wide receiver depth chart for Parker.
The Patriots on the other hand were in dire need of a WR1. Rolling out Jakobi Meyers, Nelson Agholor and Kendrick Bourne this past season, Parker should slide into the No. 1 wide receiver role in 2022.
In addition to the acquisition of Parker, the Patriots also got a 2022 fifth-round pick in exchange for the third-round pick they sent to Miami.
Parker will face off against his former team twice each season as a continued member of the AFC East.
