Oakland A’s Announce Update On Chris Bassitt After Scary Injury

August 18, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Chris Bassitt gets tended to by trainers.

On Tuesday night, Oakland Athletics pitcher Chris Bassitt suffered every pitcher’s worst nightmare.

In the bottom of the second inning, Bassitt pitched to White Sox outfielder Brian Goodwin. Unfortunately, Goodwin made hard contact and the ball came right back at Bassitt, who had little time to react.

The ball hit the A’s pitcher in the head, though it was difficult to determine where. He immediately slumped to the ground and could be seen bleeding from his head. Trainers immediately carted him off the field.

Of course, fans from both teams only had one thought in mind: everyone hopes he makes a full recovery. Well, the Athletics had a very significant update about Bassitt, saying he’s been taken to the hospital, but that he is conscious.

“Chris Bassitt is conscious and aware, and is on his way to the hospital,” the team said in a statement. “We will provide additional information when possible.”

It’s great to hear that Bassitt is alert and aware on his way to the hospital. Hopefully he escaped a major injury and will be able to return to the lineup soon.

Bassitt has been phenomenal for the Athletics this season. He has a 12-3 record with a 3.04 ERA.

We hope he continues to recover following what could have been a disastrous injury.

We’ll have the latest on Bassitt’s health when it becomes available.
