After some solid but unremarkable performances against the Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints in his first two preseason games, newly-minted Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence turned up the heat against the Dallas Cowboys today.
Getting the start in Jacksonville’s preseason finale, Lawrence was just shy of flawless. He led the Jaguars to an opening drive touchdown, hitting Pharoh Cooper for an 18-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
After punting on their next drive, Lawrence led the Jaguars down the field for another touchdown. He found Laviska Shenault for a four-yard touchdown pass to cap a 6-play, 67-yard drive.
Lawrence was pulled from the game after that one. He finished the day 11 of 12 for 139 yards and two touchdowns with a 154.5 passer rating.
Fans quickly took notice of how sharp Lawrence looked. His first quarter dime into Cowboys territory had tons of people buzzing too:

The Jacksonville Jaguars initially made Trevor Lawrence compete for the starting job with Gardner Minshew. But last week the team named Lawrence the starter outright and traded Minshew to the Philadelphia Eagles.
Now that his starting position is secure, Lawrence is getting all of the first-team reps and will be better prepared for the year to come.
He’s likely going to take plenty of lumps as a rookie. But if he can reach the heights people have projected him to, the Jaguars won’t have to wait long to return to their winning ways.
Will Trevor Lawrence win Rookie of the Year?
