Earlier this week, Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne left the team’s preseason game against the New Orleans Saints early with a foot injury.
Initially, Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer told reporters that Etienne suffered a “sprained foot.” “We don’t know the seriousness of it yet,” Meyer said in his postgame press conference.
Unfortunately, the news isn’t good. Earlier today, ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed Etienne suffered a Lisfranc injury. While that was bad enough news, the team reportedly thought he’d be able to return at some point during the 2021 season.
That does not seem to be the case anymore. According to the latest report from Schefter, the injury Etienne suffered will likely end his season.
Of course, fans were devastated by the news – including those who were hoping to rely on Eitenne for fantasy football.
Welp. Injuries are the WORST part of football. Hoping for a speedy recovery for Etienne. Now James Robinson is back up into the top 20 among fantasy RBs https://t.co/DbxcYt44l7

Jacksonville drafted Etienne with the No. 25 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft – just one spot after Najee Harris went to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Etienne was one of the most dominant running backs in the collegiate game over the past few years. His burst through the line of scrimmage was unparalleled as he led the nation in rushing yards per attempt.
Without Etienne on the field, second-year tailback James Robinson will have to carry the load.
