Tony Romo is seen by many as the best NFL analyst in the game, though not everyone is buying what he’s selling on Zach Wilson.
The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback turned CBS broadcaster is extremely high on the New York Jets rookie quarterback.
In fact, Romo believes that Wilson has a “Patrick Mahomes” type ceiling. Romo also compared Wilson to legendary quarterback Dan Marino.
“I think you guys don’t quite know how good this kid is. I think he is super rare,” Romo said earlier this week. “I think he’s like a young Dan Marino.”
Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo is getting ready to play in the #UtahOpen this weekend. During his media availability he raved about Zach Wilson and the player he could become in the #NFL.

That’s quite a compliment from Romo, though not everyone is buying it.
“That means he’ll be a bust… As a Jets fan, positive feedback means the opposite,” one fan wrote.
Others are reminding fans of what Romo said of former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.

Still, there are many who appreciate the remarks from Romo. After all, Wilson has yet to play in an NFL regular season game. It’s far too early to be making any “bust” predictions.
“So great is this to hear, especially from him who know a thing or two about quarterbacks. Let’s dial back a little and brace ourselves. He just started one game. In the preseason, he has a lot of talent, but there is more to it and it can happen a lot. Let him develop,” one fan added.
Wilson and the Jets are scheduled to open the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against the Carolina Panthers.
