The move wasn’t much of a surprise. Taylor is the most veteran backup quarterback on the roster and started all three preseason games for Houston.
It’s also Taylor’s first year in Houston. He was the Week 1 starter for the Los Angeles Chargers last season. But a Week 2 injury opened the door for rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, who promptly went on a historic tear.
Many people are happy that Taylor is a starter once again after losing his job under those circumstances. Texans fans and general NFL fans are hopeful that Taylor has a good season for a litany of reasons:
Anyone not sold on Tyrod Taylor. Watch LA all or nothing. When he called everyone in for a team meeting pregame and discussed what they would do as a team for the BLM movement. The guy isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but he will do a job for us. There are a lot worse qbs out there. pic.twitter.com/l750ZS5NGa

But one fan pointed out something rather interesting about Tyrod Taylor. While Taylor himself has struggled to achieve NFL stardom, several of his backups have. That fan now has high hopes for Texans rookie Davis Mills.
Tyrod being named the starter means Davis Mills will become a stud in the NFL because of the history of young backups behind Tyrod Taylor. Josh Allen, Baker Mayfield, and Justin Herbert. It’s bound to happen again.

In 10 NFL seasons, Tyrod Taylor is 24-21-1 with a 61-percent completion rate, 54 touchdowns and 20 picks.
He led the Buffalo Bills to the playoffs in 2015, ending a 15-year playoff drought for the team after a breakout season. Taylor earned his first Pro Bowl nod after throwing for 3,035 yards and 20 touchdowns with just six interceptions.
He also has a Super Bowl ring from his 2012 season as the backup quarterback on the Baltimore Ravens.
Will Tyrod Taylor be a quality starting quarterback for the Texans?
