It seems increasingly likely that former Super Bowl MVP Nick Foles will be traded for the second year in a row. Rumors are circulating this morning that the Chicago Bears are ready to hear trade offers for their third-string quarterback.
On Monday’s edition of MMQB, NFL insider Albert Breer reported that the Bears are listening to offers. But he also noted that the Bears won’t send Foles “somewhere he doesn’t want to go.”
Nick Foles has a pretty significant cap hit this coming year and didn’t play great for the Bears last year. The fact that Chicago added two quarterbacks to their roster who will start before him is pretty telling too.
NFL fans on Twitter weren’t at all surprised by the revelation though. Many believe that this has been the Bears’ position all season – they simply haven’t gotten an appealing offer:
I’m going to assume they have been listening to offers all preseason but just have not gotten any.

and I will be mildly entertained when they don’t trade him because they didn’t get an offer from a team he wants to go to

i’m sure they were waiting on a QB to go down in camp that would make him more appealing… didn’t happen

Other NFL fans are willing to take on Foles provided he can be had at a decent price. Some feel he could be a good backup option if their starter goes down:
Honestly, the Giants should trade a 7th for him. DJ is injury prone and Foles is good. I’ve always liked him. He would be a perfect backup. Way better than Glennon.

to Jets as backup. Should happen

Since signing his big free agent contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, Foles is 2-9 as a starter with 13 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
He was traded to the Bears in 2020 but couldn’t get the starting job from Mitchell Trubisky outside of injury.
Foles’ stock has never been lower. And with his huge contract as an albatross, the Bears will be hard-pressed to trade him for any sort of compensation.
Where will Nick Foles play in 2021?
