The Ryan Fitzpatrick era in Washington is off to an unfortunate start.
Washington’s veteran quarterback signed with the NFC East franchise with the hopes of leading it to a deep postseason run. Unfortunately, Fitzpatrick has already gone down with an injury.
The 38-year-old quarterback suffered a hip injury.
Washington quarterback Taylor Heinicke is now in for the Football Team.

Washington Football Team fans are already feeling it.
“Literally depressed by the Ryan Fitzpatrick injury,” one fan tweeted.
“Ryan Fitzpatrick oh no,” one fan wrote.
“WHO HURT MY BABY RYAN FITZPATRICK NOOOO,” another fan added.
There’s already some speculation about who could fill in for an injured Fitzpatrick in Washington. Cam Newton, who played for head coach Ron Rivera in Carolina, remains a free agent after getting released in Carolina.
QB Taylor Heinicke replaced Ryan FItzpatrick for Washington, and WFT has Kyle Allen as a third-stringer.
It is worth noting there’s a QB on the open market who knows head coach Ron Rivera quite well. https://t.co/rh2PEuLy93

Rivera addressed the Cam Newton speculation earlier this month, although that was before his starting quarterback got hurt.
“[His release] did pop up on our radar, but just so you know, Ryan Fitzpatrick is our starting quarterback,” Rivera told reporters, via Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. “So that’s where we are. We have three guys we like that all came to camp [who] did a nice job for us and we’re going to go forward with those guys.”
Perhaps Rivera’s tune will change now, though.
