The Las Vegas Raiders attempted to make one of the biggest trades of the NFL’s offseason according to a recent report from The Athletic.
According to a report from The Athletic, the Raiders attempted to acquire Chicago Bears All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack prior to the start of free agency.
Mack, of course, began his career with the Raiders. The 5th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft played in Oakland through the 2017 season. He was traded from Oakland to Chicago during the 2018 offseason.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, the Bears had no interest in the trade.
The #Raiders called the #Bears ahead of free agency this offseason to see if they’d be interested in trading Khalil Mack. Chicago had no interest, per @VicTafur. https://t.co/y1e9fZSzGN

Mack, a three-time first-team All-Pro, was traded from Oakland to Chicago just before the start of the 2018 season. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2018 and has made three straight Pro Bowls with the Bears.
The Raiders were in need of a boost on defense, though, and they attempted to bring back one of their former stars.

Unsurprisingly, many are now saying that this is proof that the Bears, not the Raiders, won the Khalil Mack trade.

Well this puts an end to who won the Khalil Mack trade. 😂 #Bears #Raiders https://t.co/M5mqCvLvmU

Others are saying this is a bad look for Raiders head coach Jon Gruden.
Man if this is true what a colossal screw up this has been for Gruden https://t.co/05LXQNJr92

Regardless, Khalil Mack is still a member of the Chicago Bears and the Raiders will have to move on without him.
The Raiders open the 2021 season on Monday, Sept. 13 against the Baltimore Ravens.
