NFL World Reacts To Los Angeles Rams, New England Patriots Trade

August 25, 2021 by The Spun Leave a Comment

Early Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Rams made a bold trade to add running back depth after losing star running back Cam Akers to a torn Achilles earlier this offseason.

With Akers gone, the Rams’ running back room was made up of starter Darrell Henderson, Jake Funk and a few others. While most of the country was sleeping, the Rams and New England Patriots agreed on a trade to send running back Sony Michel to Los Angeles.

Following the trade, fans had the chance to react to the news. Of course, there were some who couldn’t help but make a joke about former Rams running back Todd Gurley and Michel’s injury concerns.

“A Todd Gurley reunion wouldn’t work in L.A., but Sony Michel brings with him the exact same injury concerns that Gurley would,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote.

Other fans reacted to the fantasy football value of the Rams running back position after the addition of Michel. Fantasy football expert Kyle Yates isn’t worried about Michel’s addition.

He still has Darrell Henderson as a top-15 running back heading into the 2021 season.

Darrell Henderson’s Ranking Pre/Post Sony Michel Trade:

Before ➡️ RB15
After ➡️ RB15

Guys, Sony Michel doesn’t scare me off of Henderson at all. This is about having a RB on their roster that’s actually seen snaps in a NFL game more than anything else.

The Patriots selected Michel with the penultimate pick of the first round of the 2018 NFL draft. He had a solid rookie season, rushing for nearly 1,000 yards.

Unfortunately, he took a step back during the 2019 season and suffered several injuries during the 2020 campaign.

We’ll have to wait and see what impact he has on the Rams this season.
