Several NFL teams are on the hunt for a new general manager this offseason. But it doesn’t look like they’ll have any luck going to the Dallas Cowboys front officer to find one.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday that Cowboys VP of Player Personnel Will McClay is expected to stay in Dallas. Per the report, the Cowboys are closing in on a deal that would keep him long term.
McClay has been a rising star in the Cowboys front office for over a decade. He started as a scout for them and has risen through the ranks to attain VP of Player Personnel in 2018.
Cowboys fans realize the value that McClay has to their franchise and are loathe to see him go. So it should be no big shock that they’re practically jumping for joy at the sight of him staying:

Will McClay played college football at Rice but played professional football for the Detroit Drive in the Arena League. After winning three three ArenaBowl titles, he went into coaching and front office work.
McClay has worked in the NFL, Arena League, and even the original XFL. He went 153-135-1 as head coach in the Arena League.
He has a lot of experience and people are finally starting to take notice. The Cowboys especially.
Will the Cowboys keep Will McClay under contract for the long term?
