NFL World Reacts To Asking Price For Deshaun Watson

Trade rumors for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson continue to swirl.

Over the weekend, multiple reports surfaced, indicating that the Texans are starting to push more for a trade involving their star quarterback.

“Multiple executives from teams not directly involved in the discussions tell PFT that there’s mounting chatter that Watson will be traded in the coming days,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk wrote. “The two finalists are believed to be the Panthers and the Dolphins. (The Broncos and Eagles also had been linked to Watson.) If it happens, it would turn things upside down for whichever team gets Watson.”

Despite Watson’s legal situation – he’s been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women – the Texans’ asking price is very high.

Houston reportedly wants three first round picks and two second round picks in exchange for their quarterback.

Even without the legal drama/disturbing allegations… Three 1s and two 2s for Deshaun Watson would still be overly ambitious. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The NFL world isn’t sold on the Texans being able to land that kind of package.

“They will never get that. A 1 and conditional 1,” one fan wrote.

“They’ll be lucky to get a conditional 1st round pick. Watson has way too much baggage and legal trouble ahead,” another fan added.

Of course, it’s possible the Texans could land a big-time package.

“That’s only two 2nds more than what the 49ers gave up for Trey Lance, and Watson is already the best case scenario for what Lance could be. NFL teams don’t behave rationally when it comes to quarterbacks,” one fan said.

The Dolphins are reportedly the frontrunner at the moment.

Thread. Sources tell @yahoosports the #Dolphins have emerged as the frontrunner in trade discussions with the #Texans for QB Deshaun Watson. The Texans are seeking 3 first-round picks and 2 second-round picks in negotiations, according to a team that dropped out of trade talks.

Houston is set to open the season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against Jacksonville.

Will Watson still be on the roster when the season opens?
