On Tuesday afternoon, Baltimore Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti met with the media to discuss several topics.
During the media session, Biscotti announced the team signed head coach John Harbaugh to a new three-year deal. However, that wasn’t the news that captured headlines.
The Ravens owner was asked to give his thoughts on the Cleveland Browns giving Deshaun Watson a fully-guaranteed, $230 million contract. Biscotti made it clear he didn’t think Watson “deserved” to be the first quarterback to get a contract like that. He also knows the game has now changed forever.
“I don’t know that he should’ve been the first guy to get a fully guaranteed contract,” Bisciotti said, via Ravens reporter Jamison Hensley. “To me, that’s something that is groundbreaking, and it’ll make negotiations harder with others.”

Every quarterback from now on will be looking for a completely guaranteed contract based on precedent of Watson’s lucrative deal.
That will directly impact Biscotti and the Ravens, who are trying to lock down star quarterback Lamar Jackson with a new deal. Given Watson’s fully-guaranteed $230 million deal, Jackson will be looking for a huge payday.
We’ll have to wait and see if the Ravens oblige.
