San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle Mike McGlinchey has gone up against a number of talented defensive linemen in his four NFL seasons.
But for as many different opposing players as McGlinchey has faced, the 2018 first-round pick said one of his teammates might be the best.
During an appearance on the “Inside the Garage” podcast, McGlinchey was asked to name the hardest player in the NFL to block, He immediately said Aaron Donald of the Los Angeles Rams, but after being told he couldn’t pick Donald, settled on his teammate, Nick Bosa, and his older brother Joey of the Chargers.
“I don’t think there’s anybody that plays run/pass as hard as he does every single snap,” McGlinchey said of what makes Nick great. “As coordinated as he is, as strong as he is, he can beat you any way he wants. I think going up against him every day has made me a lot better player.”

The No. 2 overall pick in 2019, Nick Bosa had an immediate impact in the NFL, winning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. He was the missing piece for the Niner defense, and his 47 tackles, nine sacks and two fumble recoveries helped San Francisco make the Super Bowl.
After an ACL injury limited him to two games in 2020, Nick responded with 15.5 sacks in his 2021 return. Combined, he and brother Joey have 82.5 sacks in eight professional seasons.
