It’s slightly easier to predict which teams will be good in a given NFL season than which ones can be bad. Injuries and bad breaks can turn a 10-win team into a 10-loss team in the blink of an eye. But one NFL insider believes that six teams are likely headed for “ugly” seasons this coming year.
In a recent column for CBS Sports, NFL insider Jason La Canfora identified six teams that struggled last year who may also struggle this year. The teams he picked are the Houston Texans, Detroit Lions, New York Jets, New York Giants, Jacksonville Jaguars and the Cincinnati Bengals.
For the Texans, it was the ongoing uncertainty regarding quarterback Deshaun Watson. That combined with their lack of starpower at any specific positions has them poised for a tough season.
The Lions, he argued, are believed to simply have a lack of talent at every level. Their defense is particularly suspect.
The two New York teams have their own struggles stemming from years of roster mistakes and overall mismanagement. While they have very different problems, both are expected to struggle.
The Jaguars are pretty much a complete unknown given how many unknown commodities they have. They hired Urban Meyer as their head coach but have a lot of question marks given that they went 1-15 last year.
Lastly, the Bengals are dealing with an offensive line that insiders reportedly don’t think can adequately protect franchise QB Joe Burrow.
It can get late early in the NFL, and for some teams the hits and injuries and bad luck keep coming. Which half-dozen teams are trying to shake that dark cloud https://t.co/3c1o2TXG2t

All six of the teams on the list finished the 2020 season with 10 losses or more. And hardly any of them are expected to cut that loss total in half this coming year.
Are the six teams listed here really heading into ugly seasons in 2021?
