If you polled fans around the NFL on which team had the worst 2021 offseason, many would likely go with the Houston Texans.
The Texans are dealing with the Deshaun Watson scandal, as their franchise quarterback has been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women. Watson has also reportedly requested a trade away from the team.
Houston hired a new head coach in David Culley, though many are skeptical of the hiring of the 65-year-old first-time head coach. The Texans also made some questionable moves in free agency, signing a lot of running backs.
And, of course, there was the situation with the media in training camp. The Texans attempted to “end” training camp early to prevent the media from being able to watch practice. The NFL ruled that the AFC South franchise was not allowed to do that.
Despite all of that, last night, broadcaster Spencer Tillman made a ridiculous comment about Texans GM Nick Caserio.
“He put this team in a wonderful position for the future and the present. I don’t think I’ve seen a better job by a GM in the last decade, or more,” he said.

Perhaps the NFL world has been too negative on the Texans this offseason. It’s possible that Houston is in a better position than most think.
Still, it’s far too early to suggest that the Texans had one of the best offseasons in recent NFL history, especially considering everything that’s happened so far.
Houston is scheduled to open the 2021 regular season on Sunday, Sept. 12 against Jacksonville.
