Just over a few hours ago it appeared that Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester City were ready to put pen to paper on a blockbuster transfer. But a new challenger has reportedly arrived and taken the deal out from under them.
According to soccer insider Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have been in direct contact with Ronaldo’s agent about a possible transfer. Per the report, the Man United board have been discussing a deal to acquire him from his current club, Juventus.
It remains to be seen if a reunion at Man United is something that Ronaldo would agree to. But Man United fans themselves would probably be over the moon.
Ronaldo played for Man United from 2003 to 2009, quickly becoming one of the world’s best soccer players. He won three Premier League titles, an FA Cup, two League Cups and a Champions League title in 2008. In 292 total games, he scored 118 goals.
It doesn’t hurt that Man United are currently managed by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ronaldo’s former teammate.

Shortly afterwards, Romano reported that Manchester City are out of the race.
Man United are now reportedly “confident” in their offer, and won’t even have to give up star midfielder Paul Pogba to make the deal happen.

Cristiano Ronaldo was sold to Real Madrid in 2009 for what was then a record fee of £80 million. Over the next nine years, he would win even more honors, becoming a global icon in the process.
Ronaldo was sold to Juventus in 2018 but struggled to find as much success with them as Juventus. After the team failed to win the Serie A title and suffered another early exit in the Champions League, rumors began to emerge that he wanted to leave.
Those rumors appeared to be true. And judging by what we’re seeing, he’s on his way back to where his career really jumped off – in the Premier League.
