The Scott Frost era at Nebraska hasn’t exactly followed the path fans were hoping for when the Huskers inked a deal for Frost to come home.
He helped build UCF into a legitimate college football power – at least in the non-Power 5 world. However, his first three seasons at Nebraska haven’t yielded the success fans were looking for.
Unfortunately, things got a little worse for Frost and Nebraska football program this morning. According to a new report from Brett McMurphy of Action Network, the NCAA is investigating Frost and Nebraska.
From the report:
“Nebraska’s football program and coach Scott Frost are under NCAA investigation for improper use of analysts and consultants during practices and games,” McMurphy reported. “The school, sources said, has ‘significant video footage’ confirming the practice violations took place in the presence of Frost and other assistants.”
The NCAA reportedly interviewed Frost, multiple current and former staff members, administration and football players regarding the allegations. McMurphy also reported Frost obtained legal counsel.
While the report doesn’t state the NCAA’s investigation is over, McMurphy detailed a potential punishment. He suggested Frost could be suspended for “an unknown number of games.”
It’s unclear if the punishments would extend beyond Frost. Regardless, it’s a bad look for the football program as the 2021 season draws near.
The Huskers start the 2021 season on the road against the Illinois Fighting Illini on August 28.
