Nebraska Had A Notable Change At Practice On Monday

Nebraska football just can’t get out of its own way these days.

The Huskers were supposed to make a statement in their season opener last Saturday against Illinois. It was quite the opposite. Nebraska, playing with an experienced roster and staff, was completely outmatched against Bret Bielema and the Fighting Illini. And now, the end of the Scott Frost era could be near.

Nebraska now faces a must-win game this upcoming Saturday in a showdown against Fordham. The players are well aware of the pressure they’re facing. So is the coaching staff. So what’s the solution to bounce back and beat Fordham? Apparently, it’s to take the fun out of practices.

Frost and his coaching staff reportedly decided to remove music from Monday’s practice, instead hoping the players would bring the “energy” themselves. We’re sure this is going to fix all their problems.

Liewer: “We cut the music at practice so guys had to bring their own energy.” #huskers

We don’t have much to say here other than it’s officially time to worry. This is the kind of decision high-school coaches make.

Fortunately for the Huskers, they have two winnable games over the next two weekends. They play Fordham this Saturday and then Buffalo the next. That gives Nebraska the opportunity to move to 2-1 before what should be an ugly blowout on Sept. 18 when the Huskers play the Oklahoma Sooners.

The bottom line is Nebraska still has an opportunity to make this a memorable season. But cutting music out of practice probably isn’t going to bring about the results Scott Frost and his coaching staff is hoping for.
