Nebraska AD Asked If Scott Frost Is Coaching For His Job

Scott Frost’s tenure at Nebraska has been underwhelming to say the least. In his first three seasons with the Cornhuskers, he owns a subpar 12-20 record.

With his fourth season at Nebraska about to begin, Frost admit that it’s time to get his alma mater back on the right track. However, it doesn’t sound like he’s on the hot seat just yet.

When speaking to ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski, Nebraska athletic director Trev Alberts dismissed the idea that Frost is “coaching for his job” this fall.

“I asked him point-blank, ‘Is Scott Frost coaching for his job this season?’” Wojciechowski said, via 247Sports. “He said, ‘Well, even the great Tom Osborne endured criticism when he was at Nebraska.’ But he emphasized, and the quote is, ‘It would be a mischaracterization to say that Scott Frost is coaching for his job,’ end quote. Rece, it seems fairly definitive.”

New Nebraska AD Trev Alberts said fourth-year Huskers coach Scott Frost is not coaching for his job in 2021, according to @GenoEspn.

Frost seems to be safe at Nebraska – for now – but that could change depending on how this season plays out. The good news for the Cornhuskers is that Frost feels much more comfortable now with his team’s leadership and culture.

“Coaches are always looking for ways they can do things better,” Frost told Wojciechowski. “If you’re not evolving, then you’re stale and stagnant. It’s been three years of hard work. Day-by-day, we get better and better. Our unity’s better, our leadership’s better and our culture’s better.”

Nebraska’s 2021 season officially begins this Saturday afternoon against Illinois.

Kickoff for Nebraska’s season opener is at 1:20 p.m. ET on FOX.
