NCAA Tournament Star Doug Edert Reportedly Makes Transfer Decision

April 10, 2022 by The Spun

Saint Peter's star Doug Edert

Earlier this week, the college basketball world learned that Saint Peter’s guard Doug Edert was entering the transfer portal. Moments ago, Adam Zagoria of The New York Times announced where Edert will resume his career.

Zagoria is reporting that Edert has committed to Bryant.

This is a huge addition to Bryant’s basketball program. As a junior, Edert averaged 9.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for Saint Peter’s.

Edert saved his best performance of the season for the opening round of the NCAA tournament, scoring 20 points in an upset win over No. 2 seed Kentucky.

In a statement released on social media, Edert thanked his family, friends, coaches and teammates for the all the support they gave him at Saint Peter’s.

“I want to start by thanking my family, friends, coaches, teammates and Peacock Nation for an amazing three years at Saint Peter’s University. I have nothing but love for everyone who has been by my side throughout my journey,” Edert wrote. “With that being said, I have entered the transfer portal. I’m excited for what is to come and looking forward to exploring all opportunities for my basketball career.”

Bryant will need Edert’s scoring ability next season, especially since Peter Kiss declared for the NBA Draft. Kiss was the Division I leader in scoring this past season, averaging 25.2 points per game.

If Kiss ultimately decides to pull his name out of the draft and return to Bryant, the program will have two capable scorers on the wings.
