Former Boston Celtics guard Terry Rozier seems to have found a longterm home in Charlotte.
After averaging a career-high 20.4 points per game in 2020-21, Rozier has reportedly signed a four-year, $97 million max contract extension with the Hornets, per NBA insider Shams Charania.
The deal is guaranteed and runs through the 2025-26 season.
Before this extension, Rozier was set to make $17.9 million through the 2021-22 season and become an unrestricted free agent in 2022.

The NBA world took to Twitter to react to Rozier’s huge contract news.
While the 27-year-old guard had a career year in 2020-21, some feel this $87 million deal was a bit too rich. Others feel it was well deserved.
Terry Rozier lived up to his sign and trade deal. Averaged 20.4 ppg last season. Now he’s part of their future plans. https://t.co/ES3NhDytpN

Charlotte and overpaying for good players who don’t fit their organizational timeline. Name a better duo. https://t.co/Zk99KJQYqa

Talk to anyone around Louisville basketball over the last decade and they’ll tell you Terry Rozier had the roughest background of anyone they ever recruited and worked harder than any player they ever had once he got here. Dude deserves every penny.

Terry Rozier is still young, durable, takes and makes big shots, plays both ways, is a leader by example and vocally. Good deal for the #Hornets.

Terry Rozier now makes more per year than Mike Conley, Julius Randle, Fred VanVleet, Buddy Hield, Lonzo Ball, Zach LaVine, & Domantas Sabonis.
That’s hilarious. https://t.co/uYWyPQQwwn

I’ve been a STAUNCH defender of Terry Rozier on #hornets twitter
He’s coming off 2 career years in basically any measurable/meaningful statistic
This is predictable after the departure of Monk/DG
But slightly uncomfortable with the number– Thought 18ish was the sweet spot https://t.co/ZgwK5z1CEl

I’d never thought I’d read the phrases “Terry Rozier” and “Max contract” in the same sentence https://t.co/EVpMpwAfM2

Locking in Rozier for the next few seasons, the Hornets have solidified their solid backcourt in Charlotte. In addition to No. 11 overall pick James Bouknight and free-agent pickup Kelly Oubre, rising star LaMelo Ball will return to join the former Louisville standout on the guard depth chart.
With Ball coming off an NBA Rookie of the Year performance and Rozier fresh off a big-time contract, the Hornet’s backcourt should be in good hands this coming season.
Failing to make the playoffs following a 33-39 regular season and a Play-In Tournament loss, Charlotte will look to bounce back in 2021-22.
