Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic narrowly avoided a one-game suspension after the NBA decided to rescind Friday night’s technical foul against the Blazers. This is the second such occurrence for the 23-year-old this season.
On Saturday afternoon the league’s brass got together and determined that what would’ve been Doncic’s 16th technical foul was unjust; allowing Doncic to be eligible for the final game of the regular season.

A game that could determine whether the 51-30 Mavs are a three or four-seed in this year’s playoffs.
Dallas is currently a half game back of the third-place Warriors, who play the Spurs Saturday night. It should also be noted that the Mavericks hold the tiebreaker.
Luka received the would-be tech for “continuously complaining” to officials after a non-call. After the game, Doncic pleaded his case to the NBA:
“If you ask me, I think 100% it should be rescinded, because it wasn’t a tech at all,” Doncic said Friday night. “No warning, no nothing. I just asked him, ‘How is that not a call?’ Hopefully, it will be [rescinded], so I can play Sunday.”

Referee Tony Brothers acknowledged in his post-game report that there was no foul language directed towards any of the officials while Doncic was complaining. Just that the star was “15 feet in the backcourt still complaining” following the no-call.
This is obviously a huge break for Luka and the Mavericks as they try to increase their chances of moving further in the playoffs after disappointing endings in the previous two years.
