Steelers rookie running back Najee Harris left Week 18’s game early with an elbow injury. But was eventually able to return and make some key plays for Pittsburgh down the stretch to keep the team’s playoff hopes alive.
On Tuesday, head coach Mike Tomlin appeared on 937 “The Fan” with an update on Harris’ injury going into the Wild Card round. According to Tomlin, he expects Harris to be limited in practice, at least early on.
“Mike Tomlin says on [937 “The Fan”] that Najee Harris elbow injury will affect his practice availability early in the week. I hope that’s the worst of it,” tweeted Andrew Fillipponi.

Harris finished with modest numbers in the Steelers 16-13 overtime win. Rushing for just 28 yards on 11 carries and adding another 27 in the passing game. However, he made his plays when they mattered the most.
Pittsburgh’s all-time rookie rushing leader will be needed if the Tomlin and the Steelers have any designs on upsetting the Chiefs Sunday night. The last time the teams met in Week 16, Kansas City buried Pittsburgh by 26.
The Chiefs defense can be susceptible to the run, giving up nearly 118 rushing yards per game. Hopefully, Najee Harris is able to battle through the practice week as the Steelers try to give Ben Roethlisberger’s career a one-game extension.
