Michigan Honoring Colin Kaepernick: College Football World Reacts

March 31, 2022 by The Spun

Colin Kaepernick works out for NFL scouts.

Colin Kaepernick is still waiting for another opportunity in the National Football League, but the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback will be back in the college football world soon.

Wednesday night, the University of Michigan’s football program announced that it will be honoring Kaepernick at the upcoming spring game.

Kaepernick, of course, played under Jim Harbaugh on the San Francisco 49ers. The ex-49ers quarterback has not played in the NFL since the 2016 season.

This will be pretty cool. Unsurprisingly, though, there are mixed reactions to the Wolverines’ decision on social media.

“The funny part about Colin Kaepernick being the honorary captain is that Jim Harbaugh is almost certainly doing this because of his relationship with him in San Francisco. He doesn’t care about his political views lol,” one fan tweeted.

“TBH if Harbaugh never left the 49ers I think Kaepernick would still be in the league,” another fan added on Twitter.

“There is no doubt in my mind that Jim Harbaugh’s Vikings would’ve included a Colin Kaepernick signing as QB2,” one fan predicted.

I love this. Anyone who’s ever met Colin Kaepernick knows his heart. He’s a good dude and whatever he said to the team was positive. https://t.co/z7e4pLlhQR
